Step One The very first thing to do when you want to rename a
series of files is to navigate to the location you'd like to work with. You can
do that using the browser window in the top left of the program. Step Two Step Three Select how you would like the files to be renamed.
The options here are nearly endless, we'll start with the simple
choices. File Renamer Basic/Deluxe was designed to be easy to
use. The most common renaming tools are all on the first tab called 'File Name
Properties' If this picture is confusing, please click
here for more information With the default settings, File Renamer will add
a dash and a four digit unique number to the end of the filename. You
can see in the 'Sample File Name' what your file will look
like. To test a simple rename which will place a dash and a
number at the end of your selected files -0001, -0002, -0003,
etc..., click the Preview button to see what it will
look like. If you are satisfied with how it looks, you can press the
Apply button to rename your files. It's that simple. In an instant you can rename
thousands of files. In this example, if you did place the -0001, -0002,
etc... on the end of your filenames and you decided you didn't like it, you
could go to the Delete / Remove / Insert
section and use those tools to remove the last 5 characters from your filename
which would remove the -0001. Or, if you have the Deluxe edition, you could just
click on the Undo button.
